History:
The American Cocker Spaniel was derived
from the larger English Cocker Spaniel during the 1800s. This breed is
a gundog used to flush quail and other small game birds. There are three
colors recognized by AKC: black, parti-color and ASCOB (Any Solid Color
Other than Black).
Temperament:
The Cocker is a playful, cheerful and
sensitive breed. It is equally at home in the city or the country. Some may
bark a lot, some are also overly submissive.
Maintenance:
Brushing 2-3 times per week will keep the
coat looking good. Professional clipping will keep it looking like the
standard.
